Abstract
Rejecting framings of Myanmar’s youth as an undifferentiated homogenous group, this chapter starts by locating this diverse demographic within Myanmar’s social, political and economic transition. We highlight youth experiences of the political/democratic transition process, the constraints on youth political engagement, and the socio-cultural impacts of the political and economic transition. We then turn to discuss the framings of youth within national and state level policy agendas, followed by the policy and programming priorities of international actors towards youth. Finally, the multiple scales of youth interaction will be considered, from intra-personal reflections, and inter-personal relationships to engagement at national and international levels.
