Abstract
Neurometrics is an automatic assessment procedure based on algorithmic extraction of meaningful characteristics from electrophysiological registrations. EEG and ERP event related potential responses measured under active meaningful task conditions can be considered as an index for attentional changes as well as for other information processing behavior. Hence, the neurometric method can be applied to evaluate both the integrity of structural brain functions and the presence of adequate information processing during specific task situations. A neurometric test designed to measure elementary attentional and cognitive processes can be an important tool in the diagnostic assessment of children with specific functional problems. It is well-known that LD [learning disabled] and ADD [attention deficit disordered] children often show highly similar deviant behavior, but that highly different neurological and other deficits may underlay these symptoms. Deficiencies of these children may be better understood using the neurometric NB-LA test battery.
