| Abstract |
The chapter seeks to inspire the next generation of political psychology research to move beyond self-reports and adopt theories and methods that help us to better characterize the unconscious, affective-cognitive processes that precede political decisions. To this end we provide an overview of work using psychophysiological measures, eye-tracking, and neuroimaging measures. We discuss the opportunities of these measures and how to address the obstacles these measures present. This way we hope to contribute to the promise of a beautiful friendship between political science and neuroscience.
