Abstract Sums of the parabolic cylinder function for, in absolute value, growing half-integer and integer orders emerge in numerous fields such as time-series analysis, quantum optics and transmission in wireless channels. This paper derives recursion formulas for the parabolic cylinder function with integer and half-integer orders that substantially decrease computation time for these sums.
