Studied the psychometric characteristics of the Dutch version of the Maslach Burnout Inventory. Human Ss: 341 normal male and 103 normal female Dutch adults (aged 24-62 yrs) (physiotherapists). The Cronbach alpha coefficient was used, and principal component factor analysis with varimax rotation was performed. The reliability and the internal consistency of the Emotional Exhaustion, Depersonalization, and Personal Accomplishment subscales was assessed, and interscale correlations were examined. Sex differences in subscale scores were analyzed. Results were compared with previous data (W. B. Schaufeli and D. van Dierendonck, 1994) on burnout in nurses and doctors. (English abstract)
