| Abstract |
Processes of exchange of healing practices and health-related concepts between continents and cultures: yoga in Europe and anorexia in Asia.
The text seeks an answer (answers) to the question how, and in what manner, health-related practices and concepts travel between Asia and Europe. The first part of the article discusses the path of yoga, one of healing practices in India, to Great Britain. Based on the author’s fieldwork research carried out in northern India in 2011, the second part of the paper examines a Western biomedical concept, namely an eating disorder, which has allegedly spread to India from the West. Both examples demonstrate that medical practices and concepts continuously travel between continents, states, and cultures, and are inevitably transformed during the process. |
