Abstract
In this contribution we will sketch the current situation of Hispanism within the Benelux, focussing mainly on the situation in the Netherlands and Belgium. Firstly, we will refer to the creation of the Asociación de Hispanistas del Benelux (AHBx) in 2004 and its objectives. This association comprises several countries with not only different historical developments within the field of Hispanism, but also, and most important, with different historical relations regarding Spain. Secondly, the situation of Hispanism as to teaching and research in these countries will be tackled with, dealing with the specificities of the different national systems.
