Abstract
Iklaina, a Mycenaean settlement situated 10 km northeast of the modern town of Pylos was probably the seat of a local ruler during the early Mycenaean period. It was destroyed, probably as a result of enemy conquest, around 1400-1350 BCE, and subsequently became a district capital in the kingdom of Pylos, probably known as a-pu2 (Alphys) in the Pylian administration.
