Abstract
It was not until recently that research started to focus on the maintenance, assessment and treatment of anxiety disorders in young children aged 4-7 years. It was assumed that, especially for children of this age, parents play an important role. However, this was rarely empirically tested, nor were the capacities of young children themselves to engage in their diagnostic and treatment process. The aim of this dissertation was therefore to gain more knowledge about the (1) maintenance, (2) assessment and (3) treatment of anxiety symptoms/disorders in young children and what the role of parents and children was within each of these three themes.
