Focusing on Pedro Calderón de la Barca's drama masterpiece La vida es sueño (Life is a dream), this article highlights (1) the popularity and attractivenss of Spanish plays in the Low Countries, and (2) the various ways of importing, translating and adapting the Spanish comedias for Dutch audiences.
