Abstract The appeal Salafism has on some women is overshadowed by national and international interest in their male counterparts, particularly the jihadi current. This chapter is on the contrary based on the individual understandings of participation of "ordinary" female Tunisian Salafis. By challenging the dominant liberal discourse about women and participation in conservative religious movements, the chapter argues that Salafi women's practices and discourses have to be taken seriously on matters related to political and social participation in post-revolutionary Tunisia.
