| Abstract |
Identity theft or identity fraud is often seen in combination with an individual’s personal identifiers that people possess for getting access to a system or a physical area. The individual’s personal identifier might be something a person knows or owns. In this article, the most common techniques of identity theft and how these are investigated in forensic terms are discussed. Nowadays more anti-forensic techniques are also used for identity fraud and impersonating someone else, for instance with deep fake videos. Often identity theft is seen in combination with social engineering. Examples are given for identity theft, deep fakes and social engineering. |
