| Abstract | Language is closely associated to geopolitics. First, language is intimately linked to geopolitics because it is through language that claims are articulated and justified: language plays a fundamental role in the production, the circulation, and the consumption of geopolitical narratives. More specifically, spatial metaphors and analogies play an important role in these discourses. Second, conflicts about languages as collective goods and linguistic identities have often translated into territorial claims and as such have fueled many geopolitical conflicts. |
