Abstract
This chapter maps the current state of the academic debate on multiculturalism and multicultural equality. It gives a brief historical overview of the political-philosophical paradigm and policy perspective of multiculturalism. In addition, it discusses a new frontier in academic multicultural debates: the so-called multiculturalism-interculturalism debate. It is concluded that some of the key ideas behind interculturalism theories are already part of multiculturalism, even foundational to it, and others can be included by it. Lastly and most elaborately, this chapter reflects on where multiculturalism and multicultural equality is now.
