| Abstract | In her inaugural lecture, Professor Dorien Manting states that the demographic life courses of people form an important explanation for a multitude of spatial developments. The prolonged period between young people leaving their parental home and the time the start their own family is a fitting example. This period is continually getting longer, compared to the timespan in the past. This has its consequences for spatial development, such as in the degree of urban growth and in the decline in car use among young adults. |
