This thesis examines how interventions and institutional features can shape life trajectories, expand opportunities, and reduce inequality. It shows that exposure to relatable role models can broaden children’s aspirations and influence key educational choices; that participation in prison rehabilitation programs can offer individuals a second chance by reducing recidivism and supporting successful reintegration; and that the arrival of a child can stabilise couples, affecting family and social outcomes. Overall, it demonstrates that well-timed programs and structural factors at critical life junctures can meaningfully steer opportunities, promote equality, and foster positive developmental and social trajectories.
