| Abstract |
This document reports on the drone remote sensing operations at the Rijnenburg polder, commissioned by the Gemeente Utrecht, represented by municipal archaeologist Erik Graafstal. The area under investigation comprises a Roman period cultural landscape located southwest of the city of Utrecht, within the bounds of the Rijnenburg polder (Graafstal 2023). This area is scheduled for large-scale urban redevelopment in the coming years to transform this polder into a new neighbourhood belonging to the city of Utrecht. Due to the size of the area and the need for rapid, non-invasive data collection, the municipality opted for a sensor-based prospection campaign. In this light, both a geophysical prospection campaign and a multi-sensor drone remote sensing operation were carried out at selected locations within the study area. This report specifically details the methodology and results of the drone-based remote sensing campaign conducted in Rijnenburg.
