| Abstract |
The bill for the transposition of the Digital Content Directive and the Sale of Goods Directive was recently submitted to the Dutch Parliament. Because the implementation is a matter of urgency - the two sets of rules must already apply as of January 1, 2022 - there is hardly any time for a balanced parliamentary debate on the bill. However, there is reason to do so. The two directives leave freedom of choice to the member states in certain respects. The choices made by the Minister (with which the authord broadly agrees) can sometimes be disputed - and so there is plenty of lobbying by industry associations , while consumer organizations remain largely silent. The scientific community has also paid little attention to the bill. bill. This article aims to rectify this omission.
