Abstract An additional problem with this criminal activity, which relies on technology and electronics, is the ease with which one person can impersonate another through elaborate spoofing schemes. A related activity that has cost our nation’s businesses enormous financial losses is identity theft. It generally takes victims of identity theft approximately 6 to 9 months of work with credit agencies, bill collectors, and other credit entities before they can begin restoring their good name and credit standing.
