| Abstract |
In the PCR Book Forum, editor-in-chief Arnoud Arps invites authors in the field of popular culture studies to introduce their recently published book. When proposing a book, scholarly authors are asked to distil their arguments, argue the importance and intervention of their book, and explain who might be interested in it. This is generally done before writing the entire book. The forum will use a similar format, asking questions like those asked in a book proposal, only now reflecting on them after the book has been published instead of before. Unlike a book review, where a peer reviews the book, here the experts themselves will be speaking to the reader.
In this inaugural PCR Book Forum, Arps is in conversation with Jacob Engelberg about their book Cinemas of Bisexual Transgression. Engelberg is an Assistant Professor of Film, Media, and Culture at the University of Amsterdam's Media Studies Department. Cinemas of Bisexual Transgression was published in 2026 by Duke University Press in their series, a Camera Obscura book. |
