| Abstract | Yesterday, in a rich judgment of 28 pages, the European Court of Justice (ECJ) confirmed the compatibility of the European Stability Mechanism (ESM) with EU law. This judgment marks the first time that the ECJ gave a landmark ruling on pivotal provisions of the law concerning Economic and Monetary Union (EMU) since its judgments on the Stability and Growth Pact in 2004 and on the independence of the ECB in 2003. |
