Abstract This article presents the finding that labor migrants from Eastern Europe have a weak starting position on the Dutch labor market. Although their position improves the longer they are employed in the Netherlands, the improvement is limited compared to other migrant groups. The findings are based on the registered data for all employees in the Netherlands. Multivariate analyses show that migrants from Eastern Europe are more likely to work in temporary and precarious employment and for lower wages compared to other migrant groups, even after controlling for background characteristics.
