Abstract
The archaeological department of the University of Amsterdam (ACASA Archaeology) was asked by the Cultural Heritage Agency to conduct a research on ‘Village formation during the Middle Ages (800-1600)’ as part of the ‘Malta Harvest Programme’.
This report is the outcome of the first part (Phase 1) of this research: the inventory and evaluation of relevant archaeological case studies as was described in work package 3 (wp3) of the action plan. It consists of a compendium of the research, the results of the inventory and recommendations for the second part of this research (Phase 2) in accordance with work package 4 (wp 4).
