| Abstract |
Past and recent archaeological investigations on and around the cape of Vasilikos-Kaloyeros on Zakynthos have revealed an important multi-period archaeological site. This article is the result of a study aiming to arrive at a better understanding of the nature and significance of the archaeological remains at Kaloyeros and their significance for the archaeology of the Ionian islands. The archaeological evidence of Kaloyeros has been collected by different scholars, in different times and with different intentions. Moreover, the degree to which these researches have been published varies highly. The result is a very unbalanced dataset and the main objective of this article is to provide a comprehensive analysis of all evidence available for Kaloyeros, and to arrive at a diachronic interpretation of the site.
