Abstract
Research connecting children’s sleep and parental bedtime practices to temperament and behavior problems has typically focused on sleep problems and Western cultures, and this chapter examines relationships between child sleep and parental bedtime practices with toddler temperament and behavior problems from a cross-cultural perspective. Between- and within-country correlations revealed cross-cultural differences in how children’s sleep and parental bedtime practices relate to temperament and behavior problems. Thus, results provide support for culture-specific relations between child sleep, parental bedtime practices, child reactivity/regulation, and emerging behavior problems.
