| Abstract |
“Where you stand depends on where you sit”, is also applicable to the appreciation of models which analyse cyberattacks. The most widely known models (e.g. Lockheed Martin’s Cyber Kill Chain) are of a technological nature. They focus on cybersecurity and are mainly reactive, whilst certain aspects, such as the dissemination of (false) information through the Internet, are not addressed at all. This technology-centeredness hampers a holistic approach of the analytic models. With the ‘Comprehensive Cyberattack Chain’ the authors endeavour to introduce an analysis model that not only describes cyberattacks’ technical aspects of computer hacks, but also examines strategic and geo-political aspects, as well as digital influencing (or ‘brain hacks’).
