Abstract
This fabric study focuses upon Phases B and C of the MBA ceramic assemblage from the recent Pillar Pits excavations at Akrotiri. These phases correspond to the introduction of Minoanised material traits, both compositional and technological imports, to an existing local island pottery tradition.69 Close collaboration with the typological and stylistic analyses (by Nikolakopoulou, Mathioudaki and Knappett, this volume) provides this fabric study with a unique window onto the changing interactions between Akrotiri and the wider Aegean region. The ceramic assemblage is discussed from a compositional and technological perspective and interpretations focus upon reconstruction of technological choices within the production sequence to better understand the changing interactions that characterise the so-called phenomenon of Minoanisation within the Aegean.
