Abstract This chapter reviews the development of SFBT outcome research chronologically, beginning with the first compilation of outcome studies by the European Brief Therapy Association (EBTA) described by Macdonald. It then discusses the first systematic review of controlled SFBT outcome studies published by Gingerich and Eisengart, followed by the meta-analytic reviews of Stams et al. and Kim. Finally, it reviews several important studies that have appeared since the meta-analyses and concludes with a summary of SFBT outcome research to date.
