Abstract Amid growing recognition that conventional, top-down models of conservation should
give way to locally-rooted and participatory interventions, a team at the University
of Amsterdam is exploring the dynamics of conservation entrepreneurship. While
conservation and entrepreneurship are both highly interdisciplinary research fields, crossfertilization
between the two is limited (Lobo et al., 2023). It raises the question: are the
Yellowstone Model and Silicon Valley Model undermining cross-disciplinary collaborations?
